John took a big nap today. Owen took a tiny nap this afternoon. Bizzaro.

John is getting to be a full blown kid. It's mind numbing. Sometimes I'd just like for time to stop for a moment so I can memorize this time. I find myself hardly remembering when John was Owen's age.

In other news, these two are going to be fast friends just like their big siblings.

Today was Father's Day and Miss Brooklyn's first birthday party. Two fabulous celebrations on a hot Sunday.

The boys were up early and we made blueberry muffins for Jeff while he slept in. We had a wonderful morning with gifts and homemade cards. I was inspired by Nicholas Kristof's column about the commercialization of Father's Day (and other holiday's) in the US. Instead of giving Jeff another book or tie I thought a donation would make a perfect gift. Jeff loved his herorat!

We enjoyed a fabulous midday party at the Springhart's to celebrate Brook's first birthday. It's hard to believe that she's already one. What a fun time shared with friends. If only Brook would've smiled for me :).

Once again the weekend has flown by way too quickly.

After a busy, busy week of balancing the daily life with swim lessons we had a delightful Saturday.

• Jeff & John brought home loads of goodies from the Farmer's Market - tomatoes, Florida blackberries, croissants, and corn. YUMMY!
• To celebrate the end of swim lessons, we swam and had a tasty picnic lunch with our very dear friends, the Springharts.
• I took a nap. A long, refreshing nap.
• After much discussion we headed to Lowe's to buy blackout shades for the boys rooms. I'm tired of getting up at 6 am when the sun rises and lights up their rooms. Hoping it was worth it.
• Jeff outdid himself by making an amazing dinner of pork marsala, lemon brocoli and roasted potatoes.

A GREAT Saturday.

Wednesday afternoon she sent a text. The babysitter was booked and reservations for 4 were made. After contacting no less than 10 potential babysitters, we begged my Mom to come to town and babysit so we could go out with our friends.

So worth it. The meal, conversation and company was fabulous. We need to do it again soon.

A phone call this morning absolutely broke my heart and changed John's little world as we know it. I wondered how we would all pick up the pieces. Lots of hectic meetings, phone calls and scrambling throughout the day. Hope was offered and by sunset a plan was in place. God is certainly busy with his work. I'm exhausted.

I downloaded my photos this evening to discover photos taken tonight while our sweet Jana babysat so I could attend an impromptu meeting. The photos made my day. A hint of the fabulousness by Jana:
