She's one of those friends who I've not spoken to very often since some little energy-sucking somebody was born yet the conversation just picks up as though not a moment has passed. We enjoyed a child-free afternoon catching up. Just about every topic was visited - life, kids, love, work, dreams, hopes, the future. She's been on an amazing journey in the last year and I'm so proud of & inspired by her. I'm so blessed to have friends like Wendy. I just wish she lived closer :).

John took a big nap today. Owen took a tiny nap this afternoon. Bizzaro.

John is getting to be a full blown kid. It's mind numbing. Sometimes I'd just like for time to stop for a moment so I can memorize this time. I find myself hardly remembering when John was Owen's age.

In other news, these two are going to be fast friends just like their big siblings.

Very shortly Owen will be mobile. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified by this prospect. I have a feeling that Owen will be into EVERYTHING. I keep telling him to wait until after vacation to start crawling. I don't think he's listening.

We had a delightful, albeit smelly, afternoon with my family. Good food, good World Cup soccer game, a swim at the Geisler's...a great Sunday afternoon.

I'm thrilled that Catalina is going to stay with us for a few days and watch the boys so I can work on catching up. I'm looking forward to getting some household tasks done, catching up on work and spending time with my 16 year old niece!

A busy, busy Saturday.

Purchased a new vacuum cleaner. Who would've thought we'd be so freaking excited about a vacuum cleaner?

Lunch out with my guys.

Finished Doug & Davelene's wedding photos.

Vacuumed and mopped all 1404 square feet.

Detected a remarkably foul odor in our home that we can only surmise is a dead rat. Called Critter Control. They came out. Agreed the house stinked, but couldn't do anything about it today. They'll send The Nose (a pest control guy with a superb sense of smell) out on Monday. Joy! We have guests coming tomorrow to our stinky house.

Because odor seemed to be coming from the hall closet, we took EVERYTHING out of the closet. We searched and found nothing except a really bad smell. This task wasn't for naught. The closet really needed to be reorganized.

Dinner out with my hubby. Woohoo!

Came home to a hot house. The A/C wouldn't turn on. Decided that we needed to suck it up and call the repair people at 10:00 on a Saturday night because the house would become unbearable soon. Pro-Tech came within 35 minutes. Unclogged the drain line. Due to my fastidious maintenance record with them we were charged $0. Woohoo!

Squirrels - 2,382

It seems the squirrels missed a sunflower. Yay!

Next year we certainly won't plan the sunflowers right next to the fence. Easy access for the squirrels. Who knew they ate sunflowers?

I am having a tough time putting into words how I feel about this amazing family. They are in a difficult, sad season of their lives and yet they are living joyfully. They remain steadfast in their faith and are supported by so many family and friends. It was such an honor capturing this moment of joy.

Thank you Van Son family for sharing this time with me. Thank you for reminding me to live. To savor. To appreciate. To be grateful for each moment. You are in my prayers.

This job? The one with no pay where you are on call 24 hours a day, you sleep in 2 to 3 hour spurts, you often feel like a Mac truck ran over you on a daily basis and have to beg for someone to say please and thank you. This job?

SO. WORTH. IT.
