Lunch today with a dear friend who is on a remarkable journey of healing. It made my heart full to see that after years and years of pain God can bring peace to someone's aching heart.

Grateful today. Very, very grateful.

He wants to be just like his brother. He wants to play with his toys and read his books and play with his cars and be in his space.

Yet, he's so different from his brother. So different.

Owen has started a new game when he wakes up from naptime.

Stand in your crib and then drop to the bed.

Laugh really hard.

Repeat.

Fall into the crab and snuggle/wrestle Barnsy and Lovey.

Toss.

Act forlorn that your friends are gone.

How did that happen?

Smile for Mama.

So yummy, this almost one year old boy of mine. Now if I could just wake up that happy each day.

An awesome trip to the Pumpkin Patch this morning with John's school. Such excitement in the air about the new school location, the Fall season and Halloween! Now what should we do with all these little pumpkins.

She's always been last on the totem pole. Even when Norman was around, she was last as he made his presence known. She's always waiting for something...food, her nails to be trimmed, a way overdue trip to the vet. I think she's tired of being last.

If you come to my house and want to borrow a tupperware, it'd be a good idea to wash it first. Why? Because this mess happens every day. Several times a day. And many moons ago when John first did it I would wash everything each time. Now? I wash when I need to use something. Usually. Sometimes. Ok, occasionally.

While most of the time it drives me absolutely batty, I'm amazed at how much fun a wooden spoon and some tupperware can give both boys.

Downloading and backing up images from yesterday's photo shoot and this one made me smile.

When I photograph families my goal is to capture the little moments. The role of parenting is made up of millions of these moments, most of them lost until something jogs our memories and it comes rushing back to us. When Lee Anne and Pete look at this picture in 10 years, I hope they remember the sweet, barreling energy of MG and the full heart of EJ. It was an honor to capture the love of this dear family.

#14 of 37 things to do in my 37th year: Connect more with my family.

A wonderful, relaxed afternoon spent with family. It was exactly what we all needed.
